The timber we use comes from managed woodlands where trees are felled on a carefully controlled basis; only mature wood is suitable for making fine furniture as it needs time to develop the character and enhanced grain that is essential to the finish of the final piece.
The felled trees are air dried as thick planks before the final kiln drying that will ensure stability in today's centrally heated homes.
Firstly, we hand pick each board and remove any bark and sapwood, as only the deeply grained and durable heartwood is suitable. The boards are then planed, cut to size and ready to create fine furniture.
We firmly believe that attention to detail is the key in producing quality handmade furniture and are proud to continue the methods that go back centuries using time honoured mortice and tenons for frames, raised and fielded panels and dovetailed drawers. These are all signs of true craftmanship.
